Before your appointment

• You'll receive a confirmation email or message once your booking is complete — this will also contain all the information you need to know.
• Oxford clients: please wait for Bri to confirm her availability before your appointment is finalised.
• Eat within 4 hours of your appointment. Low blood sugar can cause lightheadedness and fainting.
• Stay well hydrated.
• Avoid alcohol or drugs for at least 24 hours before your appointment.
• Wear comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area being pierced.
• Come with clean skin — no heavy creams or makeup on or around the area.
• Bring valid photo ID (essential if you are under 18 or close to it).

Medical disclosure

Please disclose any of the following before or at your appointment. Withholding medical information increases your risk of complications and releases the studio from responsibility.

• Bloodborne pathogens, transmissible diseases, or recent illness.
• Diabetes, epilepsy, or hemophilia.
• Heart conditions or use of blood thinners or anticoagulants.
• Organ or bone marrow transplant recipients — you may need a prescribed course of antibiotics from your doctor before any invasive procedure.
• Autoimmune disorders or skin conditions at or near the piercing site.
• Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Any known metal allergies or sensitivities — please disclose these before selecting jewellery.

If you have a fever, flu-like symptoms, or shortness of breath on the day of your appointment — do not attend. Contact Bri immediately so she can reschedule you.

When you arrive

• You'll be welcomed and shown to the studio space.
• Bri will go through your booking and confirm what you're having done.
• You'll be asked to complete and sign a consent form. Please read it carefully — it covers risks, aftercare, and studio policies.
• This is the time to ask any last minute questions — nothing is too small.

Risks to be aware of

Piercing is an elective cosmetic procedure and carries inherent risks. By proceeding you acknowledge these include — but are not limited to — infection, scarring, keloiding, allergic reactions, migration, and rejection. No guarantees are made regarding healing time or aesthetic outcome.

• A piercing results in a permanent change to your appearance. Your skin may not fully return to its pre-piercing condition even if the jewellery is removed.
• Removing jewellery at any stage may cause the piercing to shrink, scar, or close completely.
• If you experience severe swelling, prolonged bleeding, or signs of infection after your appointment, it is your responsibility to seek prompt medical attention. The studio is not a medical facility and cannot diagnose or treat complications.

The piercing itself

• Go through all jewellery options and choose what you would like to use.
• Bri will mark the placement and check you're happy with it before anything happens.
• You'll always have final say on placement — speak up if something doesn't feel right.
• The piercing itself is very quick. Bri will run through each step as she goes, but can also just let you know when it's done if you'd prefer not to know.
• Bri uses single use sterile needles and ASTM F-136 implant grade titanium as standard.

Straight after

• Bri will talk you through your aftercare instructions.
• You'll be given time to sit and recover before leaving if needed.
• Book in your 6 week check-up appointment and take photos.
• Any questions that come up after you leave are always welcome — don't hesitate to reach out.

General care

• Use NeilMed Aftercare (provided at your appointment). Spray twice daily, morning and evening, after you shower.
• Spray into the lid or a shot glass and dip a Q-tip. Clean the back first, then the front.
• The most important step: dry thoroughly. Use clean gauze, a piece of kitchen roll, or a hairdryer on cool. Any time your piercing gets wet, dry it straight after. This prevents water retention bumps.
• No dyeing your hair for 4 weeks after a fresh ear piercing.
• Getting shampoo or conditioner on it in the shower is fine — just clean with NeilMed after.
• Don't over-clean. Only twice a day, no more.
• Don't leave wet hair down to dry on fresh piercings.
• Nipple/navel piercings: keep plasters on overnight for 2–3 weeks to avoid snagging while you sleep. During the day, use them if you're moving around a lot or wearing tight clothing.

What to avoid

• No alcohol or drugs for 24 hours before and after your appointment — they slow healing.
• Avoid sleeping directly on your new piercing.
• No swimming for 6 weeks or until Bri gives you the all clear. This includes saunas.
• Don't change or remove jewellery until we've checked healing together.
• Keep makeup, hair products, and skincare away from the piercing site.

Healing expectations

• Mild redness, swelling, or tenderness is normal for the first few days.
• Don't worry if you notice a small crust forming — that's your body healing.
• Healing times vary depending on placement. Everyone is different and it's okay if things take longer!

Check-ins

Follow-up appointments will be scheduled to make sure everything is healing beautifully and to help with jewellery upgrades when the time is right. If you feel you need to come in sooner, just reach out.

A final note

Your piercing is a fresh wound and deserves patience and care. If something feels off — prolonged swelling, heat, or discharge — reach out straight away. Bri is here to make sure you feel safe and supported.

Deposits

A non-refundable deposit is required to secure almost all appointments. Deposits secure your appointment date and time.

Cancellations with more than 24 hours notice: your deposit carries over to a new appointment. Cancellations within 24 hours of your appointment: your deposit is forfeited.

Oxford studio note: If you book without first confirming Bri's availability in Oxford and she is unavailable, your deposit cannot be guaranteed. Please always message Bri before booking to avoid this.

No refunds

All piercing services and jewellery purchases are final. Once a service has been carried out or jewellery has been purchased, no refunds will be issued under any circumstances.

This is consistent with our consent form, which every client is required to sign before any service takes place.
